The weekend past saw Rosses Athletic Club compete in the Northern Ireland and Ulster Championship, coming home with multiple titles.
16 athletes from the club competed over Saturday and Sunday, with 15 qualifying for the All-Ireland, 8 Ulster titles, 7 silver medals, 1 bronze and 5 who came in 4th place.
Annie O’Neill took home gold in the U14 long jump, while Niamh Doogan took home silver in the same event and in hurdles (missing out by 1 hundredth of a second). U14 Boys 1500m saw and impressive return by Jack McElroy to take gold.
Oisin Gillespie took home two gold medals with 1.65m in U15 high jump and 5.61m in long jump. In the U15 Girls high jump, Eva Logue matched her sister the previous weekend to secure gold, Faela Houston coming in 4th and Aoife McGonigle in 6th.
In the U15 boys shot putt and javelin, Josh Broadbent proceeded strongly to secure silver in both events while in the U17 girls shot putt Sheila Gallagher claimed silver and a bronze in javelin, while in the U19 girls shot putt her sister Amber was claiming another gold medal.
Odhran Rodgers came away with a silver in the 800m and knows it could have been more while there was another All-Ireland qualification in the Long Jump for consistent Úna Richardson who knows there is more to come.
Aoife McGonigle showed real character getting up to 4th place with her last throw of the competition. Ellis O Donnell showed she is well able to compete at this level, taking in her first big competition in high jump and long jump with new PBs in both.
In the U15 girls javelin Eva Logue got up to 4th,with Faela Houston in 6th while at the same time Odhran Lynch got up to 4th in long jump and qualified for the All-Irelands.
Michéal Logue was to have a big day securing gold in shot, gold in hammer and silver in discus. Over to the seniors and the Scoil Adhamnain 5k which saw Bernie Boyle the First Lady continuing her fine form and the top three men were Declan Ferry, Fergal McGee and Edward Harkin.
On Saturday the Dingle adventure race saw adventure race specialist David McKelvey add another podium finish with a superb 3rd place in a strong field.
In the Lifford Strabane Half Marathon Patrick Trimble secured a strong 7th place and Ken Bates getting home sub 1 hour 30 mins while I. The ladies section Helen McCready secured a good 3rd place in a very competitive field with Martina Mulhern in 7th.
There was a number of other 5ks and the VHI Ladies Mini Marathon with a number of strong performances from Rosses athletes.
