A mass High Court action on the defective concrete blocks crisis has now surpassed 2,000 participants, it has been revealed.
The case is being taken by Defective Blocks Ireland, a not-for-profit organisation, to vindicate the rights of all those affected by the defective concrete crisis.
The legal action, led by Coleman Legal, aims to achieve a genuine 100% redress by fully restoring the losses of homeowners.
Due to the growing number of participants, the deadline for joining the action free of charge has been extended to Friday, July 7th.
Affected homeowners have been invited to join the case without any financial cost, as all legal expenses are being funded by Defective Blocks Ireland.
Defective Blocks Ireland CLG has made the decision to extend the deadline to accommodate more individuals who were previously unable to join the case due to personal circumstances.
A statement said:
To facilitate the inclusion of more homeowners in the legal action, the following arrangements have been agreed upon:
- An extended three-week period will be granted to individuals who wish to join the case on the same terms as existing participants. This includes benefiting from the decisions in the lead cases, without any upfront charge for expenses, or the risk of an adverse costs order. Friday, July 7th, is the final day for homeowners to join the case.
- After the three-week extension period, interested individuals can join the case by paying an initial €500.00, which covers High Court Stamp Duty and administration expenses.
- Participants joining after the three-week extension may also be requested to contribute further to any costs that may arise in their specific case.
In the interest of fairness and consistency, it is not possible to make any exceptions to this decision, regardless of individual circumstances.
Homeowners wishing to join the legal action can do so by emailing defectiveblocks@colemanlegal.ie or by calling the Coleman Legal office on 1800 844 104.
Defective Blocks Ireland CLG, is a not-for-profit organisation founded by Buncrana businessmen Adrian Sheridan and Shaun Hegarty. The pair have welcomed the support and endorsement of the Mica Action Group for its ongoing High Court legal action.
