This week’s Dunkineely/Bruckless/Killaghtee Community Notes are out.
Bruckless Park
Minister Heather Humphreys officially opened Bruckless Community Park last Tuesday.
She told those gathered: “Today is all about families living here in Bruckless as we celebrate the
opening of this wonderful new community park. It is a fine facility that I do believe will bring the community together”.
The park was funded through the Town & Village and Clár schemes, operated by Donegal County Council, as well as local contributions.
John Boyle, Chairperson of the Bruckless Community Group, thanked Michael McGinley and his team for the construction of the park. He also paid tribute to those who had gone before him on the committee which was formed in the mid-eighties to build the community centre.
“There were no grants then,” he said. “They built the community centre voluntarily and they ran it for 27 years.”
Dáire Diver, principle of the Bruckless NS said “Our students have always loved using the park and now they are delighted to have more space and facilities to make use of. We look forward to making use of this area as much as possible in the future”.
Beach Cleans
World Ocean’s Day is 8 th June 2023. While the tides are a little high this week, we will be celebrating with our next Beach Clean on Saturday 17th June at 12 noon.
We will be at Riggy Haugh down on St. John’s Point, just South of McSwyne’s Castle.
Gloves, pickers and bags will be provided. Just bring some good footwear, suntan cream and maybe a sandwich.
Dunkineely Community CLG AGM
The Dunkineely Community CLG (DCL) Annual General Meeting will take place on 21 st June at 7:30pm.
The meeting will be held in the Dunkineely Community Centre and is open to anyone who lives in, or has an interest in, Dunkineely, Bruckless, Killaghtee, St John’s Point and the surrounding area. Come along and find out what we are up to.
We are also looking for volunteer Board members. Doing work from running training courses to
renovation of historic sites, the group does all kinds of things to support the community.
If you can spare a handful of hours a month, and want to help the community in a variety of ways, then come along to find out more.
Shovelin’s Florist
Shovelin’s Florists have moved to new premises in Lisavaddy, between Bruckless and Croagh.
While this is a big loss for Dunkineely Main Street, we wish them all the best for the future in their new premises.
