A Letterkenny man faces charges after allegedly falsely imprisoning another man while committing a burglary at his home.
A book of evidence was this week served on Adeleki Adelani when he appeared at Letterkenny District Court.
Adelani, a 25-year-old of Ashlawn, Letterkenny, is charged in connection with incidents on July 11, 2022 at Fortwell Apartments.
Garda Gillian Page gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on Adelani. He made no reply after caution.
The accused is charged with falsely imprisoning Ravindranath Kologotla.
He also faces charges of burglary and producing an article capable of inflicting severe injury.
Adelani is charged with having entered a building to commit theft and assault on Kologotla.
During the same incident, Adelani is also charged with stealing an Xbox worth €588.99 and stealing €2,510 from Kologotla.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented for Adelani to be forward for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which commences on June 20.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham administered the alibi warning and made a section 56 order relating to tapes of interviews.
Adelani’s solicitor, Mr Rory O’Brien, said the bail terms set for his client by the High Court were ‘the most strict and significant, as severe as I have seen in any case’.
Mr O’Brien asked if the conditions could be relaxed.
Adelani is to sign on at a Garda Station in Dublin one day a week. He was remanded on bail to appear before Letterkenny Circuit Court on June 20.
