Bundoran fires were started ‘maliciously’ – Gardaí

Gardaí are investigating two fires in Bundoran last week believe they were both arson attacks.

The incidents occurred on Thursday 8th June. Fire services attended the scene of a fire at a derelict building along the Promenade Road shortly after 5.50pm and extinguished the fire.

At 6.35pm and while still at that scene, Gardaí and the fire services became aware of a second fire in the skip area of a business which is also situated along the Promenade Road.

The emergency services then made their way to that location and the fire services again extinguished the fire. Both of these fires are believed to have been started maliciously.

Gardaí are appealing to all road users who travelled in that area between 5.30pm and 7pm who had a dash cam to please make the footage available.

They are also asking anybody who was on that busy stretch of road between those times and who may have observed any sort of suspicious activity to contact Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530. The Garda Confidential line can be contacted on 1800 666 111.
