Concern has been raised after it was confirmed there will be no nurse to cover Tory Island for the next two weeks.
Yesterday, a spokesperson for Comharchumann Thoraí Teo (Tory Co-op) confirmed that, currently, there is no cover.
“Unfortunately, there will be no nurse to cover Tory Island for the next two weeks. All prescriptions must be picked up by 1 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday),” the spokesperson said.
“In the case of an emergency, please contact your GP or NoWdoc after surgery hours.”
However, local residents are demanding that the HSE provide nursing cover for Ireland’s most remote island when the resident nurse is on leave.
We have contacted the HSE for a response on the matter.
