Dave Rogers side were once again hoping to build on a solid result after overcoming Treaty United last weekend.
On their first ever visit to Finn Park, the league’s newest club will be delighted with the result – especially having conceded six goals at home to Wexford last weekend.
They were lucky not to fall behind early on when twice within the space of five minutes they cleared off their own line, denying Michael Harris and then Filip Da Silva.
At the other end, they almost broke the deadlock on 15 minutes when Nathan Gleeson’s wonderful volley drew a fine diving save from Tim-Oliver Hiemer.
Harps carried more of a threat in the second half and twice Sean O’Donnell went close before Ryan Flood saw a well struck effort from distance saved by O’Sullivan.
Noe Baba should have broken the deadlock after the hour when he failed to hit the target from a good position.
Then Kerry wasted a great chance of their own when Ryan Kelleher was set up in front of goal but his effort struck a defender and skidded wide.
Then right at the death, Kelleher almost won it but he saw his shot brilliantly saved by Heimer.
Next up for Harps is a trip to play league leaders Galway United on Monday night.
