Friday marked a bittersweet day for staff and students of The Royal and Prior in Raphoe as they bid a final farewell to one of their most popular teachers.
Mrs Deirdre McCarron chalked up an impressive 38 years of loyal service teaching biology and science at the east Donegal school.
She has been described as a ‘dream colleague, a fantastic mentor and friend, a wonderful teacher and a caring Year Head during her time there.
“Mrs McCarron could always be relied on for solid advice and a helping hand which was always delivered with good humour and grace,” a spokesperson for the school said.
“It is safe to say The Royal and Prior will not be the same without her and she will be dearly missed, but this is not goodbye…. it’s just ‘see you later’.”
