Donegal will receive almost €20m in funding under the 2023 Health Capital Plan, it has been announced.
The funding will be allocated throughout the county including an extension to Donegal Hospice and increasing capacity at the LUH Renal Dialysis Unit from 14 to 21.
Other projects include the purchase of a site for Lifford’s new Primary Care Centre and Community Nursing Unit facility, pending full capital submission. Funding has also been granted to refurbishments at community hospitals in Carndonagh, Buncrana, Dungloe and Falcarragh, as well was an extension to the existing Chronic Disease Management Hub at St Conals Letterkenny.
The €20m allocation puts Donegal in the top 10 of counties funded in 2023.
Commenting, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal TD, Charlie McConalogue said “Our healthcare services in Donegal are essential services for the people of Donegal and it is important that we keep funding these important services. Our newly funded and opened community healthcare centres are great additions to the offering of LUH and will help to provide better services and more accessibility for Donegal people. I thank the HSE and all the staff of our vital services.”
