Three pupils from Colaiste Ailigh will be representing their school in the ‘F1 In Schools Competition’ in Galway on Monday 29th May.
Eoghan Ó Fearáin, Harry Ó Dubháin, and Philip Mac Aoidh are challenged to design, build and race the fastest and most-efficient Formula One car of the future, powered by compressed gas cylinders.
They received sponsorship from iMotors, Co-Lab, ATU Donegal, WiSar Lab, McGee Memorials, Logo2Go and Sapulus to fund the development of the car, manage brand and partnerships, learn how to build and test prototype cars, analyse their performance and ultimately race the car.
This is the first time Colaiste Ailigh has entered the competition, thanks to the help of their teachers Blaine O’Maolagain and Seosamh Mac Ceallabhuí.
They have successfully learned how to raise sponsorship, design uniforms, the importance of project management and meeting deadlines, public speaking and presentation skills and recognise each team member’s strengths and how to work as a team.
The team would like to thank the community, school and sponsors for all the material, help and interest that they showed.
The competition will take place in Galway on Monday next.
Best of luck lads.
