A 5K fundraiser in Letterkenny today was hailed as a great show of support for local athletes.
Marion Gallagher from Glenfin organised the charity walk at the Community Centre in Letterkenny, bringing people together to enjoy the challenge in summer weather while raising money for the Special Olympics Bowling Club.
Marion previously picked up a silver medal in the walk event at the 2007 Special Olympics in Shanghai.
Today, she had a helping hand from her mother Margaret, her father Michael, Chloe Mc Keown and groups of friends from Donegal Community Inclusion Training Services and CI Dawn.
Mayor of Letterkenny Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly was among the guests today. He said: “This was a fantastic initiative from this young lady to hold this fundraising event.
“It was a fantastic morning and a massive effort put in which both myself and everyone that took part thoroughly enjoyed. Well done Marion.”
