Finn Harps have announced the signings of Patrick Ferry and Stephen Doherty on two year deals.
Stephen Doherty will be no familiar to Harps supporters having come through the clubs academy structures and been part of the senior setup in from 2019 to 2021 before moving to Dergview where he was a regular under Tommy Canning.
The Illies man will be available for selection from next month.
Dave Rogers said “Bringing back Stephen Doherty is a fantastic piece of business for us and I am delighted to tie him down on a two year contract. Stephen is no stranger to Finn Park and the minute we knew he wanted to return and join us for the long term we had to move quickly.
‘His versatility and ability to play in different positions on the left hand side will provide us with greater options throughout the pitch and his enthusiasm and energy and technical skills will add a much needed composure to the squad.
“Stephen has grown and matured over his time at Dergview FC and to have another one of our own show the desire to return to Finn Harps FC and help us move forward is brilliant news for myself and the staff.”
Patrick Ferry signs from Ballinamallard United having come through the ranks at Derry City. He finished the 2022/2023 campaign as the Mallards’ top scorer.
The Gaoth Dobhair man was part of the Derry City U19 side that tasted Enda McGuill Cup glory in 2021 alongside Harps players Caoimhin Porter and Michael Harris.
“I am delighted to bring Patrick Ferry to Finn Harps FC and another player who has committed himself to us on a two year contract.
Patrick at the age of 20 has gained excellent experience previously with Derry City and most recently with Ballinamallard United FC were he finished as the club’s leading goal scorer.
Patrick is another local boy who really wanted to join us and be part of our rebuilding process. He is a striker with pace, energy and a fantastic work ethic and tenacity which will hopefully give us an added threat in front of goal.
I’m sure our harps faithful will welcome him and support him from the outset and we look forward to getting Patrick integrated with the group and on the field in the very near future.”
