A brave Donegal woman has conquered the terrifying ‘Sturral’ in south west Donegal, just fifteen months after having her right leg amputated!
Nikki Bradley was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer at sixteen and the receiver of a second hip replacement at the age of twenty-six. In February 2022, she underwent rotationplasty surgery. This rare procedure removed her thigh and reattached her knee, shin and foot to where her hip used to be, her right foot is now turned 180 degrees.
However, the adaptive adventurer didn’t let that hold her back.
Yesterday, she took on the famous ‘Sturral’ along with expert climber Iain Miller who runs Unique Ascent.
“The Sturrall headland is one of the most outstanding sea cliff features in Ireland; it is a true monster of a headland sitting isolated and far from the real world,” Mr Miller told Donegal Daily.
