Volunteer Week
Happy National Volunteer Week. We are looking for volunteer Board members at Dunkineely Community Ltd. Doing work from managing training courses to renovation of historic sites, the group does all kinds of things to support the community.
Are you passionate about Dunkineely, Killaghtee, Bruckless and St. John’s Point? Do you want to gain skills, while doing something fun and exciting? Do you think you can help? Then contact us at dunkineelycommunity@gmail.com. If you can spare a handful of hours a month, and want to help the community in a variety of ways, then let us know.
Bird Talk
A free talk by Michael Bell, from Nature Learn, on the birds he has been surveying in Co Donegal in the past six years. In partnership with ChangeMakers, we are holding a free evening talk on swifts, endangered birds and the simple things you can do to help our feathery friends in your own garden.
Come along on 31st May at 7:30pm, in MacLoughlin’s Lounge, Dunkineely. Funded by the Inishowen Development Partnership.
Beach Cleans
Our next Beach Cleans will be on Saturday 20th May at 12 noon. We will be at the Bunlacky Outlet at the end of Shore Road. To get there, pass the main entrance of the Dunkineely Community Centre (i.e. keep the Centre to your right) and head downhill to the end of the road.
Gloves, pickers and bags will be provided. Just bring some good footwear and maybe a sandwich. Who will brave crossing the river this time?
Little VIPs
Registration forms for September 2023 are available. If you haven’t already received one for your child / children please leave a message with your name and address and one will be sent out straight away.
The contact number is 087 743 8582. All registration forms must be completed and sent back by 1st June.
5k Walk
Join in on Saturday 27th May for a 5km walk. Meeting at the Methodist Church carpark at 10am. On the walk we will go to Killaghtee, via Bogside, then back to the church for refreshments.
Any donations will go to church funds. Everybody welcome!
Church Services
Methodist Church: Normal Sunday Services will be held at 10:30am in Dunkineely and 12 noon in
Ardara.
Catholic Church: Mass will be held at the normal times. Mass can also be viewed on the ‘Bruckless Church – St Joseph and St Conal’ Facebook page. Eucharistic Adoration is on Friday from 11am to 3pm, and on Sunday from 3pm to 4pm. Confession can be heard before weekend Masses or arrange a time by contacting Fr Brady at the Parochial House (074 973 7015).
Church of Ireland: Sunday service on 21st May will be held in Killaghtee at 10:45am.
Dunkineely Celtic FC
U12: The U12s are on a winning streak! Well done to players and management. We also want to wish Ben McHugh a speedy recovery. Dunkineely Celtic 3-0 Erne Wanderers, Dunkineely Celtic 3-0 Drumbar.
U10: Well done to the U10s boys and girls that played this week. Thanks to Letterbarrow for coming down. Thank you to Jordan Boyle for refereeing, Ciaran Cunningham and Graham Harron for helping out, and Gerard Boyle who helped Peter mark out the pitches.
Lottery: Dunkineely Celtic Lotto results for Sunday 7th May were 18, 22, 23, 28. There was no Jackpot winner. Consolation prizes of €20 each went to Meghan Cunningham, Alison Murray, and Thomas and Ethan Cassidy. The next jackpot will be €880.
Naomh Ultan

Senior Team: In the Reserve Division 4 League, the team lost to Gleann tSúilí 0-9 to 0-6. The 1st Senior team will play Naomh Mhuire, Conmhaigh at home on 20 th May at 5pm.
U15 SRB: The U15 SRB team won against An Clochán Liath (B) 1-3 to 1-10. They all got an ice cream after for a great performance on the road. They play again away on 19 th May at 6pm to Na Ceithre Máistirí (B).
U16 LGFA: The team will play Chill Chartha away at 7pm on 16th May.
U9/11: The U11s will play Na Rossa at home on 19 th May at 7pm, the U9s play Realt Na Mara, also at home, on 20th May at 11am.
Cúl Camp: We’ve received confirmation that the club’s 2023 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp will run from Monday 10th July to Friday 14th July. The registration for this camp will go live on https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/ from Tuesday 2nd
May at 7pm.
Bring a Ball: As part of our GAA Healthy Clubs Project, the ‘Bring A Ball’ initiative will continue throughout 2023. For all the home Senior games this year, children from both clubs can bring a ball with them and enjoy a kick around at half time.
Royal Flush Lotto: Lotto results for 014/05/2023 were 3, 4, 5, 18.
There was no winner of the jackpot, consolation prizes went to Alan Lyons, Seamus Mehan and Roger Meehan.
Next week’s jackpot will stand at €1,760. Make sure not to miss out by entering via www.naomhultan.com, the club app or local shops.
