Donegal GAA legend Michael Murphy had a heartwarming encounter last weekend with a four-legged fan who is named after him!
Murphy Mc Grory was a very good boy at the Naomh Brid vs Glenswilly seniors match last Saturday. Despite the home side losing 2:06 – 3:34, the highlight of the day for Murphy the Dog came after the final whistle.
Michael took time after the match to meet with young fans, but little did he know he would meet his namesake! The footballer, who is a dog lover, was only too happy to pet and play with his new pal.
“It was a first for Michael Murphy to get a picture with a dog named after him,” said a post on the Naomh Bríd Facebook page.
“Michael stayed back to sign many autographs for our younger generation a memory that will stay with them forever.”
