Pettigo native Laurence McGrath has been selected to be the guest of honour at the Gaelic Athletic Association of Greater New York 2023 Banquet.
In 2015, Laurence became the first Donegal man to be chairman of the New York GAA.
Laurence arrived in New York in the mid ’80s, and from his very first Sunday to the current day, can be found in Gaelic Park. He is a proud member of the Donegal Football Club of New York, where he also served as Chairman, and the New York Celtics GFC. He has been an active member and officer of the New York County Board and served as Chairman for five years. He owns a construction business, DL Contracting Inc. and just recently opened his own bar, the Horse and Jockey on Katonah Avenue in the Bronx.
The committee said: “Laurence is a vital cog in the NY GAA wheel, working tirelessly to promote the Gaelic games, and we are grateful to him for his passion, commitment and dedication.”
The Gaelic Athletic Association of Greater New York’s 89th annual banquet takes place on 10th June at The Fairways at Dunwoodie in Yonkers.
