Plans to build five new townhouses should ease the dereliction issue in the centre of Ballybofey.
John Quinn has applied for planning permission to convert the former Mulrine’s Furniture Store on Navenny Street for residential use.
The proposed development will see the conversion of the once-famous shop, which was owned by the popular Francis Mulrine, to two townhouses. Mr Quinn is also seeking to demolish outhouses and stores to the rear of the shop in order to construct a further three houses.
The move comes just a week after Donegal Daily revealed that Heeney’s Bar, a few doors from Mulrine’s, is to be reopened after it was purchased by local hotelier, Tommy Gallen.
