Inishowen’s only post-primary Irish medium school has announced that all incoming first-year students would receive their subject textbooks free of charge
Coláiste Chineál Eoghain, Buncrana, was set up in 2007 with Claire Doherty as Acting Principal.
Normally, parents and guardians of children starting second-level education can expect to pay around €300 for books. Therefore, this news will be a welcome relief to many families worried about back-to-school costs.
Most subject textbooks now cover the entire Junior Cycle, so this free book scheme will see students through for their first three years at the school.
“It is a help to families who have enough worries during a cost-of-living crisis, and we want to help in every way we can,” Transition Year Coordinator Dáire Ó Néill said.
