Country star Daniel O’Donnell has suggested a rejig of the Late Late Show format as the presenter speculation heats up.
As more broadcasters rule themselves out as the next host, Daniel said it will be a difficult gig to take over.
“I wish good luck to whoever takes it over,” he told Newstalk FM.
“Maybe if they rejigged it and had it less serious and let some other show do a serious show, so that the audience that’s on there for a bit of fun are not bored with what needs to be talked about in a serious way.
“I mean, if you look at Graham Norton… it’s all fun, it’s all light and it’s fantastic.
“So maybe that’s something that needs to be thought about for The Late Late Show,” he added.
When asked for his personal view on who should get Tubridy’s seat, he said: “God help them whoever they are! They’re dropping out like flies, all the people that were lining up for it.”
Daniel joked that he never ‘ruled himself in’ to take over, and refused to rule himself out.
“It’s a very difficult show to do. I wouldn’t miss it if I’m at home, and I think there’s a lot of people like me.”
Patrick Kielty has been named as the new frontrunner for the job, after Claire Byrne, Sarah McInerney, and Miriam O’Callaghan all ruled themselves out.
