Cappry Rovers are relegated to Division 2 of the Donegal League as Bonagee United head for the relegation play off.
Fanad United 3-0 Kilmacrennan Celtic
Newly crowned Donegal Premier League Champions Fanad United finished off their season with a 3-0 victory over Kilmacrennan Celtic at Traigh-a-Loch.
The game was played in ideal conditions and both sides attacked from the start. On 10 minutes Kilmacrennan Celtic had a chance to open the scoring when Paul Bradley cut in from the left but his shot came back off the inside of the post and away to safety.
Fanad’s first chance came in the 20th minute when an excellent Oisin Langan cross was headed over by Eddie O’ Reilly. The breakthrough for Fanad came 5 minutes before the break. Following good play by Eoin Logue and Keelin Mc Elwaine, the ball fell to Eddie O’Reilly who finished with a cheeky back heel.
Fanad then missed two chances in quick succession when Eddie O’ Reilly and Eoin Logue were foiled by Kilmacrennan keeper Niall O’ Reagan. However just before half time Fanad got their second. Keelin Mc Elwaine done well down the right and his cross was finished by Dylan Mc Glone at the back post.
The second half didn’t create as many chances as the first half as both sides made numerous substitutions. On 65 minutes Conor Gibson showed great close control to set up a chance for himself but his shot was well saved by Fanad keeper Mark Mc Conigley.
With the clock ticking down Fanad got their 3rd goal. Keelin Mc Elwaine hit a dangerous corner and Paddy McGinley was on hand to score at the back post. Referee: Con McLaughlin
St. Catherine’s 2-1 Keadue Rovers
This mid table battle started at a very slow pace and only sprung into life when the Cunningham brothers combined for the opening goal on 27 minutes which calmed the nerves of the Emerald Park faithful.
Ryan Cunningham bravely won a 50-50 tackle in the centre circle, lifted his head to spot the run of his brother Conor who calmly dribbled around the Keadue keeper and slotted neatly home.
Keadue were not just visiting to fulfil a fixture and pushed forward with intent on several occasions causing the occasional goal mouth scramble that kept the Saints’ centre halves honest and busy.
Dessie Mc Laughlin blew to start the second half with the score still at 1-0 to St Catherines but he should have blown his whistle in the Saints’ ears as they came from dressing rooms sleeping and paid the price on 52 minutes when Oran Fallon met a delightful cross from the right to head past the home keeper.
St Catherines knuckled down and the experience of Dan Breslin and Evan Broderick pushed their team on and it was the latter who rose high to meet a corner on 65 minutes and thundered a header home to give St Catherine’s the lead.
Keadue kept pushing to try to foil the party but could not really unlock a solid Saints’ back-line. Both teams finish mid table and remain in the Donegal Premier League for another season. An entertaining encounter with good performances from both sides which left the final scoreboard reading St Catherines 2 – 1 Keadue Rovers.

Arranmore welcomed title contenders Kildrum to Rannagh Park on a glorious day on the island.
The game started evenly until Kildrum opened the scoring when a shot from outside the box dropped to one of their players who finished it.
Arranmore kept defending well despite having a man sent off and having their captain go off injured and Kildrum went in 2-0 up at half time. Kildrum got their 3rd when a ball was played in from the wing and finished well.
The 4th came from a similar situation but ended in an Own-Goal. Best for Kildrum were Gareth Colhoun and Frankie Mc Brearty. Best for Arranmore were Martin Proctor and Aidan Proctor. Referee: George Clinton
Cappry Rovers Reserves 2-3 Glencar Celtic
Glencar Celtic were the visitors to Cappry Park on Friday night and it was the visitors who took the early lead when an excellent strike from distance from Pajo Rafferty rattled off the crossbar and was tapped home.
Cappry had chances to equalise, Ronan Carlin coming closest. Glencar would extend their lead when a cross was finished well from inside the box. Cappry got one back through Ryan Mc Ghee who calmly slotted home from close range.
This lifted the Cappry team who got an equaliser through Ronan Carlin who ran onto a Daniel Marley pass and finished to leave the game level going into the last ten minutes. Glencar soaked the pressure up from the home team and pounced on the counter attack to get the winner.
Keadue Rovers Reserves 7-0 Glenea United Reserves
Keadue Reserves ended their home campaign with this easy win over a depleted Glenea outfit in glorious conditions at Central Park on Saturday.
From the off, a strong Keadue line up pressed the visitors back and went ahead after ten minutes with an Aaron Neely header from a David Ward corner. They kept up the pressure and were two up around twenty minutes, again it was a headed effort, this time from Oisin Mc Kelvey, from a cross from Michael Greene.
It was soon three as David Ward dispatched with his left foot from the edge of the box. Two minutes later, Michael Greene hit a shot over the bar but they didn’t have long to wait to their fourth, when a minute later, a through ball by David Ward led to Aaron Neely getting his second of the game.
Three minutes later, Neely completed his hat-trick when tapping home from close range and it made the scoreline 5-0 at the end of a very one sided first half. At half time Keadue made a good number of substitutions and this gave Glenea a little bit more of the ball and they made more forays into Keadue territory but the home keeper was not troubled.
Aidan Yank Boyle impressed up front creating openings and it was his work in the box in the final ten minutes which created a chance, well saved by the keeper but it fell to Conal Mc Eniff to tap to an empty net. Five minutes from the end, the scoring was complete when a free kick to the far post was stabbed in by Dan Kerr. Referee: Con McLaughlin.
Strand Rovers 2-1 Drumoghill F.C. Reserves
Glorious day in Maghery with temperatures showing 15/16 degrees for a good day of football with the home side taking on Drumoghill FC.
The travelling side were looking for a win to help them to get out of the relegation zone. Strand were first on the score sheet on 15 minutes courtesy of Lennon Cowley.
David Mc Carron thought he had levelled for the visitors but his strike was ruled out by the referee. Into the second half with both teams playing well.
In the 65th minute some bad defending from the home lads led to a mis-cued clearance from Stephen Glackin bringing the sides level. Late into the second half a long ball from Michael Ward fell to the feet of Lennon Cowley once again and he got his to win the match for the home side.
