An enthusiastic team of volunteers are preparing for the return of the Darkness Into Light fundraising walk in Letterkenny.
The annual 5k invites people to walk together from Darkness Into Light at 4:15 am on the morning of Saturday May 6th.
There are 13 events taking place across Donegal this year in support of Pieta’s life-saving work in providing free, professional therapy for suicide prevention and bereavement alongside a free 24/7 suicide crisis helpline.
This year’s walk in Letterkenny will see some important changes to note. The walk will start from An Danlann at ATU Donegal. Special musical performances are being arranged before and after the event.
The committee has also announced their Darkness into Light 2023 Ambassadors: Emma Grace (Miss Earth finalist 2023) and Kevin Dooher (the Wild Atlantic Traveller). Emma and Kevin are kindly promoting the event through their social media platforms.
People are being invited to show their support in any way they can ahead of next weekend.
A committee spokesperson said: “We are still looking for donations (tray bakes, bottles of water etc.) for the morning of the event. If there are businesses who feel like they may be able to help, ask them to contact letterkenny@darknessintolight.ie.
“We are also asking businesses and houses in the LK area to show their support. They can do this by either placing a battery-operated candle in the window, turning on a light, or decorating their house/building in yellow to show solidarity for all those that are walking on the morning.”
Stay tuned for details of a pre-fundraiser with a difference next week!
