A young Buncrana man may not be able to honour his late mum in person at this year’s Relay for Life event.
But the fact that Conor McBride now lives in Canada won’t stop him from remembering his incredible mum Lorraine.
Lorraine passed away sadly passed away on January 13th, 2023 after a long 11 year battle with various cancers.
She was a huge advocate and supporter of the Relay for Life programme.
And now her son Conor plans to honour her memory by running the Toronto Half-Marathon on May 7th.
Conor has set himself a fundraising goal of €2,000, all of which will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society.
Conor said “Anyone that knew my mum knew how much she loved doing charity work and fundraising for various different causes.
“She was a founding member of the “Crana Crew” who take part in the Donegal Relay for Life every year in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
“This will be the first year that the Crana Crew will take part in the 24hr walk without her. The event will take place on 3rd & 4th of June.
“As I live abroad and won’t be able to take part in the 24hr walk, I would still like to do my part! So I’ve decided to run the Toronto Half-Marathon.”
Meanwhile, The Crana Crew will be hosting several fundraisers in my hometown of Buncrana in memory of Lorraine, which include:
April 30th: Lake of Shadows – Michael Buble/Robbie Williams Tribute experience
May 14th: St Marys Hall 3pm-5pm – Tea and Fashion show
May 17th: Gateway Hotel – Monster Bingo
May 19th: McGinleys Post Office – Raffle draw
