A new mural has been completed in the Primary Care Centre in Buncrana with outstanding creative input from local young people.
Donegal Youth Service’s Our Generation project worked with Aspire Inishowen project, Ballymagroarty Youth Club, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Peaball to create the colourful new addition to the health centre.
The project aimed to create a welcoming space that was inspired by young people that also highlighted the importance of supporting each other’s mental health.
All parties worked together to develop their ideas and skills over the coming months and they have finally produced the mural which also doubles as a gallery space for other young people to share their artwork.
“The young people worked incredibly hard and we are so grateful for their involvement at every stage of the project,” a spokesperson said.
“This mural is an exceptional example of a youth participation project that brought together young people and artists along with mental health professionals to successfully transform the reception area at the new primary care centre in Buncrana. Making it vibrant, exciting and much more inviting for young people who are using the service. As the Our Generation manager at the Donegal Youth Service, I am delighted to have helped make it happen” said project manager Frankie McGreevy.
A huge thank you to Aspire Inishowen, Ballymagroarty Youth Club, CAMHS, Buncrana Primary Care Centre and Peaball for facilitating this project and bringing it to life.
