Donegal Minor hurlers have there second win from three in the final group game against Kildare Cadets in Monaghan this afternoon on a score line of 0-15 to 2-03.
In what was a must win game for Adie Gaffey’s side following a disappointing loss to Mayo last week it was a solid performance by the whole squad.
Kildare were off to a dream start with a goal start from the throw in. A loose ball that wasn’t dealt with in defence found its way into the back of Fionnian Gill’s net.
After that however the Donegal lads in defence maintained a tight ship and the Donegal rattled off four unanswered points before Kildare got back in scoring mode.
The first half finished up with Donegal going in at the break with a one point lead of 0-6 to Kildare’s 1-02.
The second half started as the first began with a blistering start by the Lillywhite’s but they were soon bottled up by the Donegal lads who were clearly the more determined side and kept Kildare to one point from play in the second half and a goal from a free mid-way through the second half.
Donegal by comparison rattled off nine more points and looked comfortable in the match ups despite a few changes by both teams across the second half.
In what was a solid team effort to deliver the much needed win, in addition to the scorers there were a few notable displays by Kyron McColgan on the eve of his 16th Birthday as well as Fionn Farren, Jacob Malone, Liam Breathnach and Oisin Diver.
