The residents of Termon turned out in style last week to keep the roads of the area in a litter free state.
Supported by members of the local Ukrainian community who gave a helping hand, a gigantic skip full of rubbish was collected.
Indeed, the consensus of opinion among the community was that Donegal, which relies heavily on Tourism, would need some regulatory enforcement to combat the indiscriminate dumping by end users of food cartons etc on our Roadways.
The overflowing skip, full of illegally dumped rubbish in the Termon area.
While nineteen miles of the planned twenty miles was covered, the unseasonal weather contributed to people not being in a position to contribute to this annual clean up which is in its eighteenth year.
Another group hard at work.
This year’s treasure trove did not reach the heights of last year, such as flat screen TVs etc, but the old reliables did not disappoint. Items dumped included coffee cups, drink cans and discarded PPE items very much to the fore.
Never too young: Aimee and Orlaith O’Donnell doing their bit.
“Thanks must go to Councillor Michael McBride, Donegal County Council, Letterkenny Skip Hire, and of course to all the local people who turned out in force over the weekend,” a spokesperson for the organisers said.
