The talented pupils of Crana College enjoyed great success at the Derry Feis during Easter.
The showcase event took place in the Millenium Forum, celebrating young people’s talents in the fields of singing, choral singing, speech and drama, instrumental music, Irish language, traditional Irish music, and Irish dancing.
Crana College had many winners across a rich mix of categories:
- TY drama group were the winners of the Feis Cup for the Group Mime.
- Crana College Choral Verse were winners of the Marion Fleming Cup.
- The Dance Drama group devised a piece based on the Irish Mythology love story of Diarmaid and Grainne. They received first place and were then presented the Detta Toland Award for the highest mark in a group drama at the Feis.
- Michael and Maria Strain were joint 2nd place in the Traditional Fiddle competition under 15.
- Sisters Clíona and Rhíana McColgan winners of the Small Traditional Ensemble over 15. Clíona was 3rd place in her solo competition and Rhíana was the winner of the Over 15 Other Instruments competition.
- We are celebrating the winning success of Eden Breslin, Olivia ODoherty and Sophie Gillespie all Cathy Hegarty School of Dance. Crana College are very proud of these very talented dancers.
- Meabh McConalogue winner of the Irish Storytelling and Bursary, 2nd place Irish Comhra and 3rd place Studied Prose over 15.
- Muireann Nic Dhónaill 3rd place Irish Comhra under 14.
- Muireann Healey 2nd place Irish Comhra under 14 and 3rd place Studied Prose.
- Lucia Mc Eleney 3rd place Irish Comhra under 14.
- Joshua Mullins 2nd place and James Henderson 3rd place in the Irish Comhra over 15.
- Doireann Healy winner of the Irish Language Presentation Post-Primary.
- Aoife Carey 3rd place Original Poetry over 15.
- Hannah Marie Eccles Breslin 2nd place in The Popular Song competition age 14-16.
