A man found guilty of the manslaughter of Castlefin woman Jasmine McMonagle is to be sentenced today.
Richard Burke will be sentenced at the Central Criminal Courts of Justice before Judge Paul Burns.
Last month a jury in the trial of Burke for the murder of Jasmine McMonagle found him not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The unanimous verdict was returnedat the Central Criminal Court sitting in Monaghan.
Burke, aged 32, with an address in Killygordon but originally from Donegal town, had pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter.
Ms McMonagle – a 28-year-old mother-of-two – was strangled and beaten in her home in the early hours of 4 January 2019.
