From September 2023, Raphoe Central NS will enter into a partnership with Smart Steps to provide an onsite before and after school childcare service.
As many of us who work in the school are working parents ourselves, we understand the challenges that are faced in today’s world by parents trying to juggle work commitments with school drop-offs and pick-ups.
Recognising the need for the provision of such a service in the school community, we approached Rebecca from Smart Steps, a company that has already proven themselves in a number of schools around the county as providers of high-quality childcare.
Smart Steps is a dedicated school-age childcare (SAC) provider that caters for children attending national school. The organisation specialises in providing childcare and fun, recreational activities for children aged 4-13 years, delivered on-site through local schools.
With an ethos grounded in meeting the collective needs of children, families and the community, the organisation strives to offer a high quality, practical childcare solution that not only helps busy parents with childcare support, but also places the best interests of children at its heart.
Smart Steps opened its first service in 2015 at Drumkeen National School where founder Rebecca Fleury had spotted a clear and growing need for the out-of-school childcare provision locally.
Offering an array of school aged childcare options – including before and after school care during school term and full and part time childcare options over school breaks – demand for the facility across the county has led to the roll out of further Smart Steps services over the past five years.
The organisation currently operates ‘wrap-around’ childcare for school children in various locations across Donegal including Scoil Mhuire, Ramelton, and ‘Céimeanna Cliste’ based at Scoil an tSratha Mhóir, Churchill, where the facility has developed to incorporate a part time pre-school and Naíonra offering for local parents and the surrounding community.
On-going service developments taking place over 2023 will see further Smart Steps services made available at Scoil An Linbh Íosa, Carrigans, and Raphoe Central National School.
