The Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter group will hold its Annual General Meeting in Dillons Hotel on Thursday, 27 April, at 8pm.
And the current committee is looking for more people to join their dynamic project.
“In recent years our project has gone from strength to strength and has won National Awards,” a spokesperson said.
“The Government recognised the potential of the project when they awarded Donegal County Council €10.4 million under the Urban Regeneration Development Fund to develop a greater Cathedral Quarter area. We now have bi-monthly meetings with officials of the local authority to continue to make our vision a reality.”
They host an annual programme of events including St Brigid’s Day cross making, Street Feast, Heritage Week, Culture Night, a Literary Festival and the Letterkenny Carol Trail. Last summer, the group hosted the first-ever conference about dereliction in Ireland, in conjunction with Letterkenny Tidy Towns.
After the conference, the official unveiling of the Church Lane Historic Towns Initiative occurred, demonstrating that dereliction is reversible. “We are planning a second dereliction conference alongside the Tidy Towns for this July, whilst hoping to continue to contribute to the social, economic and cultural life of Letterkenny,” the spokesperson added.
The organisation is particularly seeking people with expertise in event organisation, public relations, fundraising, webpage design and sourcing funding.
“If you would like to contribute to this dynamic innovative project, come along to our AGM in Dillons Hotel on Thursday, 27th April at 8pm. Play your part in this exciting chapter of Letterkenny. All are welcome.”
