A Donegal-born priest is seeking funds to assist him in his ongoing work in west Africa.
Fr Kevin O’Hara, from Stranorlar, is a St Patrick’s Missionary Priest who has worked in Nigeria for over 40 years.
A champion for human rights, he founded the Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Centre in Eastern Nigeria and The Centre for Social and Corporate Responsibility.
The popular priest is currently at home in the Twin Towns, but will return to his work in Africa next month.
While he is here, Fr O’Hara is fundraising for a number of planned projects in the impoverished country.
“Many people in Africa do not have the same resources, opportunities or good fortune that we enjoy here in Ireland,” he explained.
“I am returning there in May and I have a number of projects that need ongoing funding. Any contribution would be very much appreciated.”
Anyone who wishes to donate can do so via his account at the AIB Bank, Ballybofey, using the following bank account details: Account name Fr Kevin O’Hara; Account number 23942-109 and IBAN IE11AIBK93736323942109.
You can also contact him by email kevinpatohara@gmail.com
In 2020, Fr O’Hara was one of 14 recipients of the Presidential Distinguished Service Awards and was honoured in the Peace, Reconciliation & Development category.
