A cat covered in pellet shots has been rescued in the Mountcharles area.
The cat was taken in by the well-known local charity, Animals In Need.
The cat, named Ethan, was covered in pellets and had obviously been used as target practice.
A spokesperson for the charity revealed that seven pellets were removed and an x-ray showed a further eight pellets scattered throughout his body.
The spokesperson added “Someone has thought it was okey to shoot him with a shotgun.
“To imagine ANYONE doing something like this to a small defenceless animal is unimaginable.”
The charity say they have reported the matter to the Gardai.
The AIN spokesperson added “You don’t have to love cats not to be cruel to them. If you don’t like them, just leave them alone.
“Sadly someone didn’t think like that and Ethan has been paying the price for it.”
Ethan will remain in the care of AIN vets but all bills are costly.
