It now appears that RTE host Claire Byrne will succeed Ryan Tubridy as Late Late Show presenter.
Betting giant Ladbrokes today announced they’d stopped taking bets on the 47-year-old landing the role after a string of activity overnight.
Speculation had been rife about who will take over from the presenter, 49, who has hosted the show for 14 years.
Before betting was suspended, Byrne was the red-hot favourite for the role at 1/3, ahead of Sarah McInerney at 3/1 and Angela Scanlon at 5/1.
Others to feature as possible replacements were Jennifer Zamparelli who was fourth on the list at 8/1 and Baz Ashmawy was fifth at 10/1.
Ladbrokes’ Nicola McGeady said: “All the signs are pointing in the direction of Claire Byrne when it comes to the Late Late Show.
“Along with news reports, we witnessed a rush of bets in favour of Byrne first thing this morning despite her short odds.
“As a result, we have decided to suspend betting on the market for the time being.”
