Gardaí believe there had been problems with the heating system at the Creeslough complex where ten people died last October.
Officers are investigating issues with the heating system at the building complex as a number of key witnesses have claimed that they smelled gas shortly before the explosion that killed ten people and injured scores of others.
Today’s Sunday Times says the evidence is regarded as highly significant as the majority of witnesses interviewed by gardai had not recalled smelling gas before the explosion.
The new evidence emerged when gardai began interviewing people who had visited the Applegreen shop and the adjoining apartments in the hours before the explosion, which happened at 3.20pm on October 7 last year.
