Three Donegal players are included in the Republic of Ireland women’s squad for two upcoming friendly internationals against the United States.
Ciara Grant from Letterkenny, Milford’s Amber Barrett and Greencastle’s Roma McLaughlin are named in the Irish squad which will continue their preparations for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 with two games against the World’s highest ranked side.
The Girls in Green will firstly be in action against the US on Saturday, April 8th in Austin, Texas before facing the same opponent again on Tuesday, April 11th in St. Louis, Missouri.
Ireland manager Vera Pauw has selected a 27-player squad for the tour. There are first senior call-ups for Lewes goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse, Peamount United defender Tara O’Hanlon and Shamrock Rovers attacker Alannah McEvoy. Both O’Hanlon and McEvoy have represented Ireland at Under-16, U17 and U19 level.
Injuries rule out Niamh Fahey, Chloe Mustaki, Ellen Molloy, Jess Ziu and Leanne Kiernan, while Megan Campbell is unavailable.
The squad will get together on Sunday, April 2nd ahead of flying to the United States on Monday to take in the two games in Texas and Missouri.
