A man in his 60s who was arrested as part of an investigation into the 1984 death of Baby John has been released without charge.
A woman in her 50s also arrested this week as part of the investigation was also released last night.
A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the discovery of the body of a newborn baby at White Strand, Caherciveen, County Kerry almost 40 years ago. The case is known as the ‘Kerry Babies’ case.
Baby John was found with multiple stab wounds at White Strand, Caherciveen, Co Kerry, in April 1984.
Investigators are trying to establish if the man and woman arrested on Thursday were the infants’ parents or relatives. DNA samples were taken from Baby John after his body was exhumed as part of a relaunch of the investigation by the Serious Crime Review Team in 2018.
