Planners have refused retention permission for two glamping pods and hot tubs at a site in Inishowen following local objections.
Keith and Kelsey Harkin had sought to retain the development at Inch Island.
However, locals said the development should be refused on a number of grounds. They claimed that it was an infringement on their privacy and had an impact on the scenic landscape and wildlife.
Refusing the application, planners said it was an ‘ad hoc and unsustainable’ form of development.
Noting that the site was approximately 1km from Lough Swilly, they were not satisfied that the development would not have a significant effect on the integrity of these Natura 2000 sites.
