Two Donegal GAA players have been honoured with special awards for their performances at the recent Higher Education Colleges finals in Mayo.
Ciara McGarvey of Donegal ATU is an All-Star award winner while Roisin Rodgers of ATU Sligo has picked up a Rising Star award.
The finals were played earlier this month at the University of Galway Connacht GAA Dome.
Donegal ATU beat DCU in their Lynch Cup semi-final and then UCC in the final.
Ciara, who plays with Termon Ladies, played a starring role for Barney Curran’s team and was named Player of the Match after the final.
She will receive a Yoplait HEC LGFA All-Star award.
Meanwhile Roisin, who plays with Naomh Muire, has been named as a Yoplait HEC Rising Star.
She was on the Sligo ATU team who narrowly lost in the Moynihan Cup Final, losing to DKIT by a single point, 0-11 to 2-06.
Both Ciara and Roisin featured for Donegal in the St. Patrick’s Day defeat to Dublin in the Lidl Ladies NFL Division One.
Donegal end their league campaign with a home game against Mayo on Sunday where they need a victory to avoid relegation.
The HEC awards event will take place on Friday, March 31st at the Bonnington Hotel in Dublin.
