An Irish Goodbye actor Seamus O’Hara was looking dapper in Donegal tweed at the Oscars last night as he and his co-star picked up the gong for Best Live Action Short Film.
Magee 1866 were delighted to dress Mr O’Hara (pictured on right) for the 95th Academy Awards, held last night in Los Angeles.
Seamus wore a three-piece Glencheck Donegal Tweed suit from the 5th generation Irish family brand, known for designing and weaving natural fibre fabrics and creating iconic clothing and accessories in Donegal for over 150 years. This was beautifully complemented by a custom pocket square in silk from Irish designer Sara O’Neil’s brand Éadach.
An Irish Goodbye, the Northern-Irish black comedy, took home the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. Written and directed by Tom Berkeley and Ross White, Seamus plays Turlough, alongside James Martin (Lorcan), as two estranged brothers brought together by their mother’s death in this Floodlight Pictures film in association with First Flights and Northern Ireland Screen.
Their acceptance speech was made all the more memorable as O’Hara and co-directors Ross White and Tom Berkeley led a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ for the film’s star James Martin. The Oscars took place on James’ 31st birthday.
