A retention application for a beer garden in the centre of an Inishowen town has been granted at the second attempt.
Last November, the owners of the Cruiskeen Lawn pub in Buncrana were refused planning permission to retain the development on ‘part-owned’ private property at the rear of their premises.
A number of local residents objected to the application, claiming the garden was a traffic hazard and created a lot of noise at night.
The applicant resubmitted the application which was this week given the green light by Donegal County Council planners.
They concluded that, subject to a number of conditions, the proposed development would not ‘injure the amenities of the area’ and would not be prejudicial to public health. The planners added that the development ‘would not endanger public safety by reason of a traffic hazard.’
