The Brunswick Room at the Arena 7 was packed to capacity on Thursday evening to celebrate the achievements of the various girls football teams across the Letterkenny Gaels club.
James Frain, Chairman of the Ladies Board, opened proceedings with a few encouraging words. He congratulated all the girls and their parents and guardians for their continued participation and support of girls football in the club.
“The number of girls participating with Letterkenny Gaels is growing year on year and this is down to the professional coaching structures, coaches, players and parents alike,” Mr Frain said.
Girls from U-8’s up to minor were recognised on the night. In addition to the team and individual awards, four girls were acknowledged for their participation with various Donegal LGFA teams.
There was a special volunteer appreciation award which was awarded to Laura Walker, Ladies Secretary, for her hard work and endeavours with the Ladies board and indeed across the club. Rhianna Stockdale made this presentation via video link to Laura who was unable to attend on the night.
The evening concluded with some inspirational words from the Senior Ladies captain, Chantelle Grant, who encouraged the girls to continue with team sports and enjoy representing the club with pride.
Thanks to the staff at Arena 7 for hosting this event and for their continued support of the club.
