There was a fantastic turnout as the Polar Plunge fundraiser returned to Rathmullan today after a two-year hiatus.
Brave dippers got ‘Chilly in the Swilly’ by taking the leap for Special Olympics Ireland.
Gardaí, Defence Forces, and the RNLI all took the plunge, as well as plucky individuals and groups.
The event had a great atmosphere as it is the first time the plunge returned since Covid-19.
Families also enjoyed boarding the LÉ George Bernard Shaw, which had visited Rathmullan Pier for the day.
The Polar Plunge Rathmullan is run by volunteer members of An Garda Síochána, dedicated to supporting and raising funds for Special Olympics Ireland. The organisation provides sporting opportunities for nearly 8,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across over 200 clubs all over Ireland.
The total raised today will be revealed in due course.
