Fans hoping to see Jason Quigley’s professional homecoming bout in April are being advised to set their clocks for 10am tomorrow, as tickets are already in high demand.
‘The Return’ at The National Stadium in Dublin goes on sale at 10am Saturday morning on www.elitesportspromotions.co
Almost 500 ‘early access’ tickets have been snapped up this week ahead of the general sale.
The show will see Quigley (19-2, 14KOs), a world title challenger, meet Denmark’s Kim Poulsen (30-6, 8KOs) over ten rounds at super-middleweight.
It is the first event promoted by Elite Sheer, who are aiming to reignite pro boxing in Ireland.
A spokesperson for Team Quigley is urging people to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment: “We always knew Jason would be a big draw in Ireland. We could see that from the following he had when fighting abroad and people have just been willing for him to get a home fight.
“In his amateur days, Jason was always well supported in The National Stadium. The night he won the Elite final against Roy Sheahan was electric – April 1 will be another special night.”
The National Stadium is a venue that holds special memories for Quigley. The Ballybofey man won ten Irish titles in the iconic South Circular road venue, with the last fight in May 2013 seeing him beat Rachid Hamani as an amateur.
Looking ahead to fighting at the National Stadium for the first time as a pro, Quigley said: “It’s an iconic venue. It has a lot of memories for me and it means a lot. Some of my biggest wins have been in the National Stadium. I can’t wait to get in there and showcase what I can do.”
He added: “I’m ready for the return – it’s great to be back in the frame of mind of having the focus and purpose of an upcoming fight.
“I’ve had a lot of time off and done a lot of thinking. I’ve kept in shape and always knew it was only a matter of time before I’d be back.”
