The Kirkstown / Glenceo woodland outside Letterkenny town is set to be greatly enhanced for walkers this summer.
An investment will be made into the way marking of a looped walk at Kirkstown and the development of viewpoints in the woodland.
Interpretative map boards will be provided, and a new car park is proposed at the entrance to the walk.
Woodland walks around Letterkenny grew in popularity during Covid-19 restrictions, and a grant of €30,000 was allocated to Kirkstown/Glenceo under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2022. Following this, a meeting was held on site with Council staff and Coillte to discuss the enhancement of the walk.
Cllr Ciaran Brogan sought an update from the council on the project this week, to which they replied: “The project will be put out to tender in the coming months with a view to being completed in the Summer 2023.”
