The Castlefin Tidy Towns Association got a pleasant surprise this week when some of the new arrivals to the area volunteered their services.
The Somalis recently took up residency in the east Donegal town and have been warmly welcomed.
Impressed by the environmental work being carried out by the participants of the local Finn Valley Community Employment (CE) Scheme, the men decided to lend a hand.
The association is delighted with the input of their new volunteers in their efforts to land more points in this year’s Tidy Towns competition.
“Great work going on this week around the town with Castlefin Tidy Towns Association as the fine weather continues,” a spokesperson for the group said.
“A huge welcome and thanks to our new volunteers in the town who have been working hard during the past few weeks and helping to keep our town tidy. It’s great to have all the help and assistance we can get.”
The CE workers have also been showing off their new high-tec ‘edging’ machine (below) which they are putting to good use on local footpaths!

Would you look at the edges on that!
