A special car boot sale will take place this weekend in aid of brave little TJ’s ‘Wish to Walk.’
TJ Needham McDaid, whose mother Claire is from Drumkeen, turned three years old on 7th October.
She was born with severe spina bifida meningocele, a permanently disabling birth defect, but despite her challenges, she is always smiling.
To boost the fundraising drive, TJ’s family and friends are hosting a car boot sale at Letterkenny Community Centre this Saturday, February 18th.
All proceeds will go towards a fund for specialist surgery and physiotherapy for the little fighter.
She has battled against the odds all her life, and now that she has reached her third birthday, she will be able to travel to the Peto Institute in Budapest for treatment. The costs of surgery and treatment are estimated at €100,000.

“She’s a very special, happy, determined child who gets frustrated that she can’t stand or walk,” one of the committee members said.
“So, her parents are hoping TJ will have surgery to help her to walk and this should take place in Cappagh Hospital in the next few weeks.”
TJ has been seen by the Budapest team and they are confident that this surgery and intensive physiotherapy will help her to walk. Following the surgery, she will go to Budapest for intensive physiotherapy for possibly up to two years.
“So far there is approximately €60,000 in the two GoFundMe accounts, but we’re aiming for €100,000 as it will all be needed.”
If anyone would like to help TJ and raise much needed funds, they can contact Clairemcdaid@hotmail.com magsscooby@gmail.com or ring Maggie on 0860513036.
Assistance is also needed to organise a 5K and Colour Run.
