Gardai believe they have busted a huge cocaine mixing factory in Dublin belonging to the Kinahan crime cartel.
Eight people, seven men and a woman, were arrested in the raid on a premises fronting as a motor parts factory.
Around 100kg of powder suspected to be cocaine was seized along with industrial mixing paraphernalia.
Those arrested are being questioned at various garda stations in Dublin, and can be detained under drug trafficking legislation for up to a week.
Officers from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau have been investigating the Kinahan’s drugs and money laundering network for some time.
They raided an industrial unit off the Longmile Road and discovered what they believe to be a cocaine mixing factory handling wholesale quantities of the drug.
It was housed in a unit which fronted as a motor trade business and contained industrial and hydraulic equipment including compressors and packaging.
Gardaí have not yet put a value on the seizure but it is believed to be in the millions.
They described the seizure as significant and believe it is a major disruption to the Kinahan organised crime group’s drugs distribution network in Ireland.
