The Donegal Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) AGM last week saw a number of people elected to new roles.
Dunfanaghy farmer Joe Sweeney is the new chairman, replacing Brendan McLaughlin who has held the position for the past four years.
He defeated Newton farmer, Joe Lynch, who was the outgoing vice chair.
Sweeney is also currently the Inishowen Development Partnership’s farm and fishing families officer.
Meanwhile, Tina McLaughlin is the new assistant secretary while Frank McClean is the new vice chair.
The new livestock representative for the county is Neville Myles and George Starritt will serve on the animal health committee.
Hugh Kelly was also elected to the grain committee, Andrew McShea will be Donegal’s farm business rep and Donal Logue will be on the national potato committee.
