The Strabane Lifford Half Marathon will go ahead in 2023, it has been confirmed.
Earlier reports emerged this week of the event being cancelled due to budgetary constraints faced by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
But local MLA Michaela Boyle has this afternoon announced that the event will be proceeding this May.
Ms Boyle said: “I am delighted to receive confirmation that the Strabane Lifford Half Marathon will go ahead in 2023 after I had raised concerns about this at Council last Friday.
“This is a landmark event in the sporting calendar every year which many people look forward to.”
The Strabane Lifford Half Marathon is organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council in conjunction with Lifford Strabane AC.
