The first public consultation on the ambitious greenway from Ballybofey to Donegal town will take place in the coming weeks.
Donegal County Council is currently progressing the Barnesmore Gap Greenway Project which is in the initial concept phase (Phase 1: Concept and Feasibility).
Local Councillor, Patrick McGowan, said he welcomes the progress with the initiative.
The local authority, with the support of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), invite residents of the Donegal Town and Ballybofey/Stranorlar areas, members of the public and other interested parties to participate in the first non-statutory public consultation.
“The project is currently in the initial concept stage, which involves the identification of a Project Study Area and the key constraints and opportunities located within,” a council spokesperson said.
“The purpose of this public consultation is to inform the public of the project and to invite feedback on the current Study Area, the constraints identified and any other issues/opportunities that the Design Team should consider.”
To facilitate this, two in-person public consultation events will take place in Donegal and Ballybofey as follows:
Wednesday 22nd February: 12:00 – 20:00 at The Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town, and on Thursday 23rd: 12:00 – 20:00 at Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey.
For additional project information, or to complete the feedback form online, please visit the dedicated project website at www.barnesmoregapgreenway.ie.
Information will be accessible online from Friday 17th February. Submissions will be accepted until Friday 10th March 2023.
