Jodie Loughrey has joined her sister Keri in signing for Sligo Rovers for 2023.
The Buncrana native was announced today, shortly after her older sister was confirmed to have signed for the club.
Loughrey has captained her country at Under-16 level and was voted the country’s Player of the Year last year.
On signing, Jodie said: “I am really excited to be joining the club today. I am looking forward to being involved in the squad as we play in the Women’s Premier Division this season, which was a big attraction for me.
“I want to improve as a player and develop and I feel I will be able to do that here at Sligo Rovers.
“I am really enjoying training so far and can’t wait to get going.”
Loughrey was part of the Scoil Mhuire Buncrana team that won the FAI Schools Junior Girls National Cup.
She also received the Junior award at the Donegal Sports Star Awards on Friday.
Her new manager, Steve Feeney was delighted to confirm the signing, saying: “Jodie is a top talent and another player we have been keen to get in here at Sligo Rovers.
“She will add a different dimension to our attack and we are all really excited to watch her this year.
“Jodie and her sister are key signings for us and it’s important that we attract players from the Northwest region as a whole, being the only club in the region to have a side playing in the Women’s Premier Division.”
